Seal of Biliteracy

Seal of Biliteracy

Demonstrate your language skills:

This program recognizes students who have attained a high level of proficiency in English and at least one other language at the time of graduation. Proficiency is determined by the completion of a set of approved assessments. The seal is noted on the transcript and provided for placement on the diploma. Requirements include GPA in specific coursework, passage of ELA state assessment, and demonstrations of other language proficiency.

What is the Seal of Biliteracy?

This program recognizes high school students who have demonstrated proficiency in English and at least one other language at the time of graduation. Proficiency is determined by the completion of a set of Arizona State Board of Education-approved assessments. The Seal is placed on the diploma and noted on the transcript up to 90 days after graduation. Please complete this form to submit your intent to earn the Arizona State Seal of Biliteracy. Your evidence will be verified and you will be notified when the results are received. This will happen after graduation, so please include the information required to reach you after your GPS email has been disabled. Students are responsible for their own testing arrangements - exams may require payment. World Languages teachers may be able to help facilitate testing.

If you have further questions reach out to the GPS Curriculum Coordinator for World Languages, Renita Miller.

The intent to earn the Seal of Biliteracy Form must be submitted before the start of Spring Break
