Welcome!   The Language Live program blends a personal, on-line learning with teacher-directed instruction to empower struggling learners to close the learning gap.  The program focuses on grammar, comprehension, vocabulary, and writing. The program allows learners to work at their own pace on-line to improve their -reading, writing while being exposed to high-interest complex with rigorous vocabulary through teacher directed instruction.   This combination ensures accelerated learning and exposure to grade-level text that moves learners to grade-level independence.

I was born and raised in Chisholm Minnesota, a region referred to as “The Iron Range” because of the iron deposits and mining that took place there.  I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree at Bemidji State University in Elementary Education.  Having grown up in the cold, I decided to take a gamble and move to someplace warm to start my teaching career and moved to Las Vegas.  I taught Kindergarten and team taught First Grade general education.  After two years, I moved back to my home state.  Through my experiences, I became interested in the students who struggled either with learning or behavioral difficulties. I decided to get my Special Education License and studied at Mankato State University in Emotional Disturbed Behaviors. I taught E.D. for three years and then earned my Cross Categorical License and began teaching in High School, focusing on L.D.  In 2004, I again moved away from the cold, this time to Arizona.  Since then, I have taught Junior High and High School as well as doing care giving part time.  I really enjoy working with students and helping them to improve their skills each and every day.  These kids rock as well as the staff here at Desert Ridge!
