About Me

I have been teaching in the Fine Art Department at Desert Ridge since the opening of the school in 2002, and in the Fine Art Department at Highland High School from 2000-2002.  I was brought from Highland High School to begin the Ceramic and Photography Departments at Desert Ridge.  From 1995-2000 I was the Head of Ceramics and Photography Departments at New School for the Arts, in Scottsdale at the time and currently now in Tempe, the first charter art high school in Arizona.  Prior to this I taught in New York and California.  I have been teaching over 22 years.  I have a BFA (Bachelors of Fine Art) degree in Ceramics and a MFA (Masters of Fine Art) degree in Metalsmithing.
I have co-authored 4 books, and wrote The Craft and Art of Clay 5th edition myself and a new book going to print next Fall.  The Craft and Art of Clay (3 editions) and Working in Clay (2 editions), both books are extensively used as high school texts and college texts.
I am a working artist and exhibit nationally and internationally.
I have been an Adjunct Professor of Art at Phoenix College, Scottsdale Community College or Mesa Community College since 1995.

I welcome you all to the Fine Art Department at Desert Ridge High School!
