Desert Ridge High School is a comprehensive four year public high school in the Gilbert Public School District which places an emphasis on student academic achievement through relationships, relevance, and rigor for all students.  Our goal is to create a culture to prepare all students to be life, college and work ready
MISSION STATEMENT The mission of Desert Ridge High School is to foster responsible and productive citizens by promoting academic excellence and inspiring an attitude of inquiry and enthusiasm for lifelong learning, while meeting the ever-changing needs of our diverse population.
Desert Ridge High School was established in August, 2002.

Over 270 courses in 17 departments offering advanced placement, honors, dual credit, and other college preparatory courses.

Two 18-week semesters

Each day has six 55-minute periods, excluding lunch. Classes meet Monday through Friday.


Students must complete 22 credits in the following areas:

4-English   3-Social Studies   5-Electives
4-Math       3-Science             2-Fine Arts/Voc. Ed.
1-Physical Ed.                        

In addition, students must obtain a passing score on the American Civics Act Exam to graduate.
Honors courses are offered in the following academic areas: English, science and math. Placement in honors is based on the Cognitive Abilities Test and teacher recommendation. Advanced placement courses are offered in the following academic areas: social studies, art, foreign language, math, science, and English.
Community College dual credit courses are offered in the following academic areas: Business, English, Family & Consumer Sciences, Math, Modern Language, and Science.

Desert Ridge High School offers a full range of 5A male and female athletic programs, and offers a variety of activities and clubs.  Leadership opportunities are available through team sports, clubs, and student council.
