Desert Ridge High School has multiple ways students can get help when they need it. Teachers across disciplines offer tutoring: before school, after school or at lunch. Please see teacher syllabus or website for specific details. The math department offers drop in tutoring on some Saturdays throughout the year. Your child's math teacher will be able to provide the dates and location. For those students who are struggling even more, we have a referral process for teachers to use. Teachers submit the name of a student and explains what the student is struggling with. Our JET team, made up of the guidance counselors, school psychologists and an assistant principal meet bi-weekly to review the referrals. Counselors send out information to that student's teachers with recommendations and interventions on ways to support the student. Feedback is given by the teachers, and the JET team reviews the information. This process may lead to a meeting with teachers and parents on next steps, or the data may show the recommendations and interventions were successful.
