Greater Phoenix Digital Library
DRHS Library

The Greater Phoenix Digital Library is a wonderful resource for us when we want to use our eReaders, but we'd rather not buy books for them. As long as you have a library card with a participating library (Gilbert is part of the Maricopa County Library District and they are a part of this consortium), you can check out up to 10 eBooks at a time to read on your eReader, smart phone, PC, or any Apple device. Here are the instructions for initial set-up and then individual directions, depending on the type of device on which you'd like to read.

1. You will need a Library card before you can use this service, so that’s step one if you don’t already have one. And if you don’t have one, why not? It’s free and it will get you connected to lots of resources!

2. Go to http://phoenix.lib.overdrive.com/

3. On the Homepage, click on “Member Libraries” in the top left corner. If you need to update your account or speak to anyone at the Library about your account, this is the time to link to their website and do that, so you can check-out without any further trouble. If you don’t see your library listed (Gilbert is part of the Maricopa Library District), you will need to get a library card from a participating library instead.

4. Now, click on “SIGN IN” in the upper right corner.

5. Choose your library from the drop-down list.

6. Enter your library card number in its entirety, with no spaces.

7. Then enter your PIN/Password. Unless you have changed yours, it is probably the last 4 digits of the phone number associated with the account.

8. Now it’s time to browse for books! I recommend “Advanced Search” simply because it allows you to choose e-Books appropriate to the type of device you are using. Open the corresponding document on this page that refers to your type of device for more specific directions from here.
